Marriage Licenses

The fee for a marriage license is $50.00. Both applicants must be present to apply for the license and fill out a short worksheet. The worksheet includes family statistics and information regarding the ceremony. Proof of identification is required. If either party was previously married, a certified copy of the divorce decree, dissolution or death certification is also required. The license is valid for 90 days.

Vital Records-Births, Marriages, Deaths, Civil Unions and Divorce Decrees

Certified copies of vital records may only be obtained by the registrant, a member of his/her immediate family, guardian, or representatives with “a direct and tangible interest” such as an attorney, physician, funeral director or other authorized agent acting on behalf of the registrant or his/her immediate family.  An application for a certified copy may be presented in person or by mail to the Town Clerk.  Mail requests require a photo identification of the applicant and payment must accompany the request.  

Fees for certified copies are $15.00 for the first copy and $10.00 for each additional copy requested at the same time. The Town of Newfields is on-line with the Division of Vital Records Administration.  

We have the ability to issue the following vital records:

  • Birth Records: 1935 until present
  • Death Records:  1965 until present
  • Marriage Records:  1960 until present
  • Divorce Records:  1979 to within 6 months from the present search date
  • Civil Unions:  All records of civil unions performed in NH
