 PRESS RELEASE

(Matthew Campbell of Newfields, N.H.)

Chief Art Reed of the Newfields Police Department would like to publicly congratulate 17 year old Matthew Campbell of Bald Hill Road in Newfields, NH for successfully completing his first year at the New Hampshire Police Cadet Training Academy which he attended from June 20th to 26th, 2009.

Cadets range in age from 14 to 20 years old.  There has not been a resident of Newfields attending the NH Police Cadet Training Academy in approximately 15 years.  Not only did Matthew graduate his first year, but he was able to work hard enough to be awarded the coveted “Commanders Award”. This award is given to only one Cadet each year who, in the opinion of the Commander (Chief Vincent Baiocchetti of Belmont, NH Police Department), best reflects the spirit and values of the academy through his/her performance, actions and attitude the entire week. While functioning in a para-military environment, cadets are evaluated daily in regards to their team building skills/teamwork, physical training and academic excellence, to name just a few areas of scrutiny. Matthew Campbell was described by academy staff members as “giving all that he could and then some”.

The NH Police Cadet Training Academy began in 1973 and is sponsored by the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police, the New Hampshire Police Association and the Exploring Division of Daniel Webster Council.
