• The Police Department in conjunction with the Fire Department and the Emergency Management Department has sent out letters about a program to assist citizens in the event of a town wide emergency.  This program is called “Helpful Hands”. Membership forms were included.  This program is free and open to all residents of Newfields.

• The Town of Newfields Board of Selectmen would like to remind motorists that the winter parking restrictions are November 15, 2010-April 1, 2011.  The hours of the ban are 12:00am through 6:00am. 

• The Newfields Police Department, unfortunately can no longer trade police patches to other departments due to budgetary restraints.

• Please be aware the police department has responded to three calls in the Deertrees/Bassett Lane developments for homemade bombs which have been found on front lawns.  Of the four homemade bombs which were located, three of them had detonated and one was disposed of by the fire department.  The homemade bombs that have been found are made of soda bottles and are believed to be made using sodium hydroxide (Drano like substance), water and aluminum foil which creates a dangerous, explosive chemical reaction.  If you find items which appear suspicious in nature, DO NOT TOUCH and call us at 772-9010.
